Digital Object Identifiers (DOIs) are strings used to uniquely identify objects such as publications, datasets, books... They enable discoverability, easy citation and re-use tracking. CERN is now providing the possibility to get DOIs as persistent identifiers for all kinds of research output.
Since 2014, CERN is a full member of DataCite, an international organisation which aims to:
- establish easier access to research data,
- increase acceptance of research data as legitimate contributions in the scholarly record, and to
- support data archiving to permit results to be verified and re-purposed for future study.
